Welcome!

Standing on a lonely precipice, The Point San Luis Lighthouse has provided guidance for mariners since its completion in 1890. The Location of the San Luis Lightstation with its beautiful Prairie Victorian Lighthouse is so remote that most Central Coast residents are unaware of its existence.  In 1975, the Coast Guard automated the light and the fog horn to the extent that the station could be officially declared surplus.  The Lightstation is now owned by the Port San Luis Harbor Commission and restored by the Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers.
The Lightstation is currently accessible through a docent led 3.5 mile round-trip hike on the Pecho Coast Trail. Access to the Lightstation grounds is restricted to guided hikes or pre-arranged van rides only. Individuals and families are invited to join either a Wednesday or Saturday hike, on a first come first served basis. On-line, pre-registration is required for these hike.  Make reservations online at www.pge.com/recreation or call 805-541-TREK. Click here to learn more.

Beginning Saturday, May 30, 2009, the harbor district will require an admission fee to the Lighthouse. The new fees will be: Adults $5, Family rate, parent(s) with children under the age of 18 $10, and children 12 and under are FREE.
